New muscle cars may have more horsepower than these three from circa 2005 nevertheless, in my eyes all three are still super cars.

I’m lazy: Do you have any numbers for bench racing comparison with current “muscle” cars?
Possible counter-point: Current “muscle” cars are actually super cars.

MotorTrend Z06 : 3.5 to 60 11.5 at 127mph through the 1/4
MotorTrend Viper (2006 500hp) : 3.9 to 60 11.8 at 123mph through 1/4
Ford GT: 3.7 to 60 11.2 at 131mph through the 1/4 (worth noting this test had way different times for the GT for the 1/4 so results may vary)

A 2017 ZL1 Camaro has 650HP.
A list of cars that had more than 650HP from between 1975 and 1995:
Honorable mention:
The McLaren F1 made 627HP

Where does a car like an E63 fit in this category? The 2018 hits 60 in 3.3 seconds and does it’s 1/4 mile in 11.6 seconds at 121.8 mph. When I see E63s I never think super car but now I’m wondering if I should.

Have a quick peek at the current M550i and Audi RS3, just for funzies. I think people have severely underestimated how much faster cars have gotten since 2015.

And, by the 1960s American definition of supercar - drag strip-optimized midsize - the Camry V6 has matched their performance on the drag strip for years now.
The fucking Camry .

Damn shame that never once did these three see each other at IMSA and all of GT in general. The C5.R and Viper GTS-R were there but the Ford wasn’t, and when Ford got the GT1/GTE the new Viper has yet to exist, then when the C7.R and new Viper GTS-R came up Ford was running a DP campaign. When the new GTE Ford came along the Viper was gone.
Just hope TopGear can get the C7 ZR1, Viper ACR, and NuGT together in a big test.

And the S8, those are both nearly the same 0-60 times, and they seat 4. We live in good times for sure.

It’s crazy! Granted, the S8 is no track monster but not everything needs to be. Hell the closest track to me is like 3 hours + away.

Yeah, I forgot about that part of the equation, track prowess isn’t really their strong suit, but for everyday drivability, it works well.

I don’t know... maybe since it has more pedestrian siblings like an e350 (or whatever) it makes it not a super car?

I think time is all relevant here and the delivery of the power is something to take into consideration too

I agree seeing all three at the same time would be quite exciting to watch. At least all three have raced though

Yeah maybe that’s what it is, because I can see an AMG GT (and it’s variants) being super car material because there is no “cheap” model. Maybe we should have a new class called “Super Executive Saloon”.
